Useful hint, but doesn't work for full-screen Screen Sharing. There, the Cmd-space is passed to the remote Mac, not to the local Mac.
This depends on how keyboard shortcuts is set up. Command-space is also the default for 'Select the previous input source'.
I would like the opposite...a way to delay the menu from coming down.
I often run VMs in Full-Screen mode across multiple screens but when I go to the top to hit a menu sometimes the Mac Menu pops down. This is very annoying with a maximized Windows window because I often hit the 'full screen' button by accident causing everything to resize.

I agree this is a big issue when using parallels in full screen mode. I really like full screen mode with parallels since it gives me a quick way to have a windows machine in a separate space.
However two issues make this a pain:
1- the above issue which makes you accidentally drop out of full screen mode whenever trying to close a window within windows. The X close button is located in the exact same position as the hidden 'leave full screen mode' arrows.
2- full screen mode doesn't work logically with multiple displays. It should work as a continuous line of screens scrolling across the displays but in fact spaces forces you to choose between one display set versus the other.
Parallels For Mac Get Out Of Fullscreen Network
Ctrl-F2 will also show the menubar - without the Spotlight pulldown - as long as you have your F-keys enabled as F-keys and not brightness, volume, etc.
Even if you don't have the F-keys enabled, on most mac keyboards the fn-key is located right besides the ctrl key, so it's an easy 3 finger key-comibination: fn-ctrl-f2.
I'm not sure what is the easier way. Sometimes spotlight has a little delay on my laptop, don't know why. So this one might be better.
I don't understand the need for this hint. I leave full screen mode in Apple applications using the escape key. Does that not work for everyone?
This hint is worth a nickle. Tell us a hack to completely stop hiding the menu bar at all in full-screen, and THAT would be worth ten bucks. If you wanted to monitor temp, CPU usage, time, etc, from applets in the menu bar, you cannot do that while actively using Safari in full-screen. The fix we all want is like Windows, where the 'Task Bar' has its own hide setting completely independent of any apps full-screen option.
