Parallels 10 is packed with virtualization features and full support for Windows 10. High annual upgrade costs hold it back, but it’s still a fantastic piece of software. For many Mac owners.
I purchased Parallels to be able to run Quicken 2012 (and beyond) on a Mac. Boot Camp was not an enjoyable option as I have had dual boot machines in the past and prefer to run things simultaneously.OSX 10.8.4/Windows 8/Quicken 2012. I love the concept but it seems that some things, like running Quicken 2012 in 'Coherence Mode' aren't quite ready for prime time (actually it's unusable so far) but once you've left 'Coherence Mode' things get MUCH better. Not perfect but well into the quite useable range. Problems exist with drawing somethings/sometimes like dialog boxes. Check Boxes/Radio Buttons are usable but poorly drawn.
Initially I had a very serious problem where I couldn't run Quicken at all. I contacted Parallels support and they were very helpful (once I figure out how to submit the problem) ...had to delete/rebuild tool box. Like I said I got to the point where I get the job done.
Bottom Line:
* Running Windows on a Mac this way is doable but ...
* I have Windows 7 and coulds/shoulda reload everything but that is quite a process.
* Tech support is good but I wish I didn't need them so often.
* If were going to do this again I would probably spend more time looking at other options (not Boot Camp though)
* If I cared to spend some time learning Windows 8 things might be a little better.
How to run Windows 10 on your Mac using Parallels Desktop 13 If you want to use Windows on your Mac, but don't necessarily want to partition your hard drive, you can run Windows using a virtual machine like Parallels Desktop. The best free option for Microsoft and Apple computers, and the one we’ll use here, is the open source VirtualBox. Mar 18, 2008 I would say a minimum of 5-10 GB. I'm not using a partition for parallels, I'm using a virtual drive (it's 15 GB). You can use a bootcamp partition if you want. If you use a bootcamp partition, it's already formatted to FAT32. A single-user Parallels Access subscription is $19.99 per year for an unlimited number of devices (iPads and iPhones running iOS 7 and higher, Android tablets and phones running Android 4 and higher, Kindle Fire, and any device with an HTML5 web browser) and up to five computers (PCs running Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10, and Macs running Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan, or Sierra). Host is running Lion and the latest build of Parallels 6. Guest is Windows 7/64 Pro. If I try to use any numbers on the numeric keypad the Windows Start Menu pops up, instead. Crossover Mac is an app from Codeweaver designed to make the best use of Wine translator (see above) in a Mac environment. It includes an easy to use installer for both the Crossover Mac app and for installing Windows apps on your Mac.
Best Number Pad To Use For Mac Running Parallels
If you are one of those people who have recently made the switch from Windows PC to Mac, you probably have already started missing your favorite Windows applications. Sure, there are a lot of apps available for Mac on the Mac App Store, as well as from third party developers. But all that is nothing when compared with the huge number of Windows applications. You may find some of the popular Windows applications officially supported for Mac OS X too. But in many cases, the commonly used Windows programs aren’t available for Mac yet.
